Yahoo Mail - This is unbelievable

Try this with your Yahoo account that has already in your iPhone:
1) Delete the account
2) Re-enter the account using a bogus password
3) Viola - it validates

Priceless.

I wonder if it is Yahoo or iPhone?

Since it's up to Yahoo to validate the password, the issue is Yahoo.

That's what I initially thought too (and may still) but how can you explain that it only does this when the account has been properly built once. That is, if you enter the email account into the phone after a restore and/or if it has never been entered into the phone, the bogus password will not validate as you would expect.

It is almost as if the iPhone remembers only the validated password and does not completely delete the account?

I don't know. I quit using Yahoo quite a while ago because I got fed up with their draconian policies when it came to what email I should receive.

I deleted my Gmail account and re-added it and wasn't able to replicate what you described with Yahoo.
