iphone 3gs youtube problem

I have the exact same problem, I have an Iphone 3gs 32gb running 3.0.1 and have already done restore and it's not fixing the problem. I can't find anything on how to fix it.

I have a similar problem with my 3GS. It will load YouTube videos but will not play them all the way through. It will stop part way (on videos over 3 min)and not load any further. My wife's 3G will play the same video all the way through on the same wifi. This only happens on Wifi. No problems on the 3G network. Tried different setting in my router but same problem persists. This only happens with YouTube on Wifi. No problems with Safari.

The problem is not youtube. Its really the wifi, and lot of people don't catch the fact that the wifi on the 3gs is screwed up. I've gone thru 2 iphones 3gs and they both do the same thing. If you download speed test app on your phone you can see that the wifi speed is extremely slower than 3g if you have one 2 compare it 2 or perhaps your internet speed in general or atleast it is for me. My 3g runs the test just fine were as my 3gs is about 3 times slower than 3g. Apple needs to fix this slow wifi issue. its annoying. since most apps on iphone don't require lot of bandwidth its hard to tell whether wifi is working properly or not. but when you test it out its clearly obvious.

BTW, have you disabled Bluetooth?It helps the issue a bit.

Playing YT is just fine on my 3GS over wifi on 3 different routers. Its works no different than my 3G. The problem seems to be YT and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I had a problem yesterday playing a couple clips and they play fine today.

Also my wifi speed using speedtest is much higher on the 3GS than the 3G so someone must have a defective phone above. I get almost 13000 kbps download on my wifi and 4500 kbps up.

The 3GS is almost twice as fast same router same loaction.

Rkkeller, I would concur. I would bet $ that the issue is with either the router or YT itself. Try both iPhones on another wi-fi or 3g connection.

I'm pretty sure its defective, but i'm waiting for the 3.1 update to come out to see whether its the phone or the firmware. But there are plenty of forums talking about the slow wifi on 3gs. at first my 3gs had slow wifi issue, had it replaced by apple. The funny thing is my first 3gs compared to my 3g the screen was slightly dimmer when brightness was set to half. When i had the phone replaced the wifi was the same, slow and on top of that, my accelometer was screwed up, everytime you hold the phone playing a game you have to hold it lopsided, and on top of that the brightness is set to max, whether you put the brightness at max or in the middle, no difference. so i have to get it replaced again. Basicly I realy don't thinkg the wifi issue is caused by the router, or the firmware, because if the 3g is fine 3gs should be fine running the same firmware. Like most people have suggested, puting your router on B rather than G, it help a bit. But as an example, on a 3mbps dsl my 3g shows 2.5 mbps were as my 3gs shows .3 mbps- 1mbps. So yeah its the wifi chip if you ask me.

Ok, now I see that it works but depending on the router I use. I found this out because I tried it at a friends house and connected to the wifi at his building and youtube worked perfectly, thing is that I could not find out what brand of router they use but it was working, my router is a Linksys and I can't find what I have to change for it to work.

Unfortunately, the 3G S has a visibly lower-quality screen than the 3G. It's the only drawback of the new phone.
