iPhone data plan on a family plan

The only items shared between lines with a family plan are the chosen calling plan minutes, and messaging. A data plan for an iPhone or for any other phone in the smart phone category is not shared.

Actually each iPhone can have it's own message plan........I have 3 iphones
on my family plan, 2 have 200/month and 1 has 1500/month

It's cheaper to get unlimited texting for everyone for $20/month.

You would be better off having unlimited messaging for your family plan which will be shared between all lines.

You are currently paying the following for messaging:

iPhone #1 - $5/mo for 200 messages.
iPhone #2 - $5/mo for 200 messages.
iPhone #3 - $15/mo for 1,500 messages.

Total - $25/mo, and if the first two iPhones go over the 200 messaging allowance, you pay additional for each message over 200.

You can get an unlimited messaging plan which will be shared between all iPhones, which costs $20/mo. A savings of $5/mo without having to pay anything extra per message if any of the iPhones go over their messaging allowance since it will be unlimited for all iPhones.

You must be getting a deal on your texting plan. I pay $29.99 per month for unlimited family messaging. Not everyone in my family plan has an iPhone.

I used the unlimited messaging plan cost for an individual by mistake.

Unlimited messaging with a family plan shared between all lines is $30/mo.

For the person I replied to, it would cost an additional $5/mo for all 3 iPhones to have unlimited messaging.

The iPhones - at least a 3G or 3GS will have MMS access this summer - something I haven't missed in the least, but I understand it is in end all for many.

I thought I was only paying $20/month for my 4 phones on the family plan (including 2 iphones), but I checked my bill and I am paying $30. I wish my kids would grow out of texting, I never use them.
