2.5 mm headset adapter for iPhone

Sorry in advance if this question has been asked already, I couldn't dig through all of the topics with the right search terms to get an answer.

I've just gotten an iPhone 3G, and it's great to be able to use normal headphones without an adapter. There's only 1 catch: how do I use my old cell phone's earpieces with it? Is there an adapter that goes from the 2.5 mm 3 contact plug that the cell phones use to the 3.5 mm 4 contact plug used on the iPhone?

If you happen to know where I could find such a thing in Canada, that would be very much appreciated!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7), iPhone 3G

I have the same basic question.

I am trying to get an iPhone to work with my office's speakerphone, to give the iPhone a more sensitive microphone and louder speakers. The manufacturer of our speakerphone has a web page ( http://knowledgebase.polycom.com/KanisaPlatform/Publishing/538/13004f.SAL_PUBLIC_12.html) showing the 3-connector TRS pinout of the standard 2.5 mm jack, compared with the 4-connector TRRS pinout for the 3.5 mm iPhone jack. Doesn't anyone make an adapter to go from one to the other?
