3.0 - Screen dims then goes bright when new song comes on during shuffle

What used to happen in 2.2 was this. I would play a playlist in shuffle and after a while the screen would dim and stay that way as long as the screen wasn't touched. Worked great for playing tunes at night before going to bed since I just used the timer as well to turn it off. Since 3.0 though, the screen will dim if the song is long enough but as soon as it goes to the next song the screen goes back to normal brightness. It never remains dimmed if being shuffled. Anyone else see or notice this?
