.ipsw problem

Since my iTunes doesnt download the firmware (long story), I directly downloaded the firmware from the apple servers. The file is a 'WinRAR ZIP archive' instead of a .ipsw file, which means I cant update my iphone.

How to I change the .zip file to a .ipsw file?
