Apple iPhone Bluetooth Headset Battery Change/Charge
I have a iPhone Bluetooth Headset and the battery life is getting shorter and shorter with each charge. It is working fine with my new iPhone 3G S and I would like to continue to use, anyone know of where I can get a new battery for it and or can I do it myself?
MacBook Pro,
Mac OS X (10.5.7),
iPhone 3G S - iPhone Bluetooth Headset
I have the same problem except that I bought my BlueTooth headset only 6 months ago and now it will not take a charge at all. It's completely dead. It seems like the battery should have lasted longer than only six months.
There is an old archived thread of a number of folks having simlar issue, but nothing was resolved.
I have only had mine for about 1 month and it acts pretty screwy.
With a full overnight charge after about one 10 minute phone call the indicated battery life will drop to 50% or so. Yet if I put it back in the charger the charge light turns green with in just a minute or two.
Battery life is very short.... maybe 30 - 60 minutes of use spread over several hours will kill the battery.
I guess I'll be calling Apple support since it is still under warranty unless we turn something up?
I got an issue with the battery also, worse still, I bought it from another seller and only to realise the warranty is over in 2months time.
Anyway, the battery status bar showing on the iPhone is cranky. Sometimes after a full charge, it shows only 3/4bar when I just on it. Then I plug it in to charge and the LED turns amber, HUH!? That means the first "fullcharge" is fake??!
Gosh, I am very happy with the iPhone, but this bluetooth set is getting on my nerves.
I had this same issue with my first Apple iPhone BT earpiece. Wouldn't keep a charge and the volume kept getting lower and lower. Finally took it back to the Apple Store where the genius admitted a problem with the hardware. This was after the warranty had expired. He gave me a new one without questions!
Either visit your local Apple Store or chance it and purchase another one because there is NO WAY to change out the battery.
I have noticed that the first "reading" by the iPhone of the headset usually reads low and that after 10 seconds or so (perhaps after a subsequent status report being sent out) it then reads full.
But mine is hosed up also .... even when very low the charge light turns from amber to green within a minute of being placed in the charger. I guess since it is working "ok" there is no hurry to exchange ... I might as well wait until closer to the end of the warranty period and perhaps Apple's engineering team will enhance the design?
Great. I dropped this headset few days ago on the floor, tar road to be exact, and now, nobody can hear what I'm talking over the headset. And all I hear is STATIC STATIC AND STATIC.
I'm so annoyed off about this headset. When I bought my wife an iPhone 3G i picked up this headset over the myriad of other products on the market because I love to support Apple whenever I can.
When she started using it with no issue and within a couple months it completely stopped holding a charge. It had green lights a changed, but simply died as soon as it was turned on. I figured we got a bum version so I returned the headset to get one that worked. Luckily, at no extra charge.
The interesting thing is that within a couple months the replacement started to do exactly the same thing.
After spending a $129 at the time, I have no purchased a different brand at almost half the price and it works just fine.
I hope that apple is going to do something to make this right.
Keep me in mind if you come across something. I like the headset and it does work with my new iPhone 3G S, just not for long. Would welcome a fix. Mine is now over a year old so out of warranity.
