glitch when clicking 'download'?

hi,
for a few months now a random glitch has accoured on my macbook pro which will not allow me to click download and it begins, instead it means if there is something i want to download off the internet i have to right click > download linked file. though this is just a small problem there are some downloads which wont allow me do the right click method meaning i cant download.
is there a way to fix as this happens on both safari and firefox.
thanks!

HI,

And where are you downloading these files from? You don't need to right click to download a file. Just click.

Are you using anti virus software?

In both Firefox and Safari, empty the caches.

How to reset Safari here. http://browsers.about.com/od/safar1/ht/safaridefault.htm

In Firefox. Firefox 3 for Mac OS X

In Firefox, from the Tools menu, select Clear Private Data.

Make sure Cache is checked, and then click Clear Private Data Now.

Ok...

Launch iTunes. Click iTunes store on the left then click your account name on the right. Click the purchase history button. Click Report a Problem.

This is sounding more like a hardware issue...

Try resetting the Reset the PRAM/NVRAM and see if you can click.

Resetting the PRAM resets the double click time... maybe that will help.

Did you reset the PRAM/NVRAM like I suggested? It might help..........

Also, open System Preferences/Keyboard&Mouse and select the Trackpad tab.

Make sure your Tracking Speed, double click speed, Trackpad Gestures and Options are set correctly.

*"okay reported to apple and tried that trick but still nothing,"*

You won't receive any reply for at least 24 hours as it's explained on the iTunes site.
