Lock Dashboard Widget Positions?

How can I lock the positions of all or one of my Dashboard widgets so that I can't accidentally move them by clicking them? I get annoyed when I have everything set up in the exact configuration I want it and then I accidentally leave a finger on the trackpad or something and mess up its position. I feel like this should be a standard feature in OS X, in the form of a little lock button right next to the + button.

Mac OS X (10.5.7)

In most OSs the position of a window or widget is remembered as the last position it was left in.
Are asking for something that will be able to determine or distinguish between your "accidentally" and purposely moving something?
If so, I suggest asking for such a "feature" here:

I think there is a possibility that a recent update might have caused a small error with positioning things in dashboard. I am not sure exactly when, but I have a feeling it is the newest update (10.5.7). Ever since around that time, my weather widget keeps automatically changing between two distinct spots, frequently. I move it back to the correct position, and it will switch itself to a slightly elevated position, or lower depending, when I open dashboard. I never noticed this before, not sure if anyone else does now.

my weather widget moves around like it has a mind of its own when I disconnect it from my external monitor. Weird little fellow. Drives me crazy, but I think my Macbook secretly does it on purpose to remind me who the real boss is 😉

Yep - me too. I have 3 Weather widgets in Dashboard and everyday when launched they randomly shift up or down (only vertically) by about 20 pixels or so. It's getting pretty annoying. This is on a new machine with Leopard 10.5.7. On my previous machine running Tiger, this wasn't a problem.

My MBP is connected to a 23" Cinema Display. It seems people might be having this problem if they have more than one display - is this a factor?

Yeah, this didn't happen when I was running 10.5.6 so I guess it might've been caused by the 10.5.7 upgrade. I reported this bug to Apple thru the Mac OS X feedback page, hopefully they'll get it fixed, because it only happens with the weather widgets, I have 7 of them on my dashboard and they keep re-positioning themselves, so sometimes it is a mess!

Sometimes it also happens that some of them show weather conditions for Cupertino, CA, even when I set them up for other locations...

Weird..

Ditto. Same problem here. MBP 15" Mid 2009, OS 10.5.8, 23" Apple external monitor. The bundled Apple weather widget moves on it's own. None of my other widgets move on their own. Weather Widget seems to be particularly aggravated by connecting and disconnecting from an external monitor. And yeah, it decides it's in Cupertino sometimes too. It seems to have started a few OS revisions back but since 10.5.x. It does it on an old MBP as well. Sure would be nice to have a "stay put" option for it.
