Folder Missing

I had a download folder on the dock. While trying to enlarge a window I must have deleted it. Now, I looked for the folder in trash and it wasn't there. used spotlight to locate any downloads. I made a new folder and put it on the dock. I wanted to rename the folder so I right clicked it but there is no where to put the name. I also checked "date" and something weird came up. Numbers 19-31-39. That's not a date. Please show me the error of my ways. Thanks
