SonyEricsson HBH-DS980 headset constantly disconneting from iPhone

I have my HBH-DS980 that I have been using flawlessly with my p1i.
With the iPhone it pairs fine, plays music fine, but it disconnects from the iPhone 3G all the time. When I recieve a phone call I need to connect first and then it answers the incoming call. Same when calling out, call is allways in the iPhone. I have to connect with the phone first.

With the newer HBH-IS800 it works perfectly, it stays connected all the time to the iPhone.

Anyone else with HBH-DS980?

MacBook pro 17" 2,33, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

I solved it myself.
I resetted the headset by pressing menu and power at the same time for 5 seconds.
Then it works perfect. I can now navigate in the phonebook and play and pause. Change songs don't work yet.

Great that the best bluetooth headset on the market is working fine on the iPhone too.

An update, it seems it does disconnect 30% of the times a call is ended.

It seems the headset is keeping the audio open from the phone after he call is closed. 10 seconds or so I can hear it's active. Then the iPhone completely disconnects the headset. This happends quite often now.

Maybe you should check if there's a firmware update for your headset.

Did you solve this? I just switched from my old HBH-DS970 headset (which by the way worked flawlessly) to the HBH-DS980. I'm on a iPhone 2G running OS 3.0. I experience the exact same issues with the disconnection problem after a call has ended...

I have the DS980 and I'm having a slightly different issue.

It disconnects DURING the phone call every 3-6 minutes.

The weird part is; is stays connected to the iPhone fine for hours on end when I use it to play music or movies...and it will saty connected to OTHER cells phones fine for hours long calls...

It only disconnects from the iPhone and only during calls. It actually disconnects (where I have to go to settings | general | bluetooth and reconnect) as opposed to swapping to handset.

I was seriously considering purchasing this and checked here first; has anyone resolved their issues? Are there others using the HBH-DS980 successfully, without issues? I've got the 3GS and was going to go pick one of these headsets tomorrow, but seeing these complaints has me hesitating.

As highly rated (best on market by Consumer Reports) and well-designed as this seems, I have all kinds of gripes about it.
1) The disconnection issue is beyond annoying
2) People on the other end of a call complain they are having trouble hearing me about half the time
3) Occasionally a hideous shrieking static will overwhelm a call and the only way to stop it is to disconnect the call--trying to break the bluetooth connection doesn't work.
4) The slide bar for FF/Rev doesn't work

Listening to music works great, but I use my phone far more for calls than for music, and it has performed quite poorly on that crucial function. Maybe it works better with a SE phone, but it is a huge disappointment with the iphone.
