Ok the only prob. I have is that there is no flashing light or any indication that you missed a call so I find myself constantly push the home button to check for a missed call any solutions.

I agree, that's pretty poor on apple's part and i hope they address it in future models. I shouldn't have to click a button to see a missed call or v mail. Otherwise you're bound to be late on returning a call unless you're always hiitting the home button. Just my opinion. Even just alow light flashing would be great. Oh well. I guess apple wants us to keep our phones on us at all times. 🙂.
Oh I so totally agree with you guys. They need to have a blinking light or some other indication instead of just having to always hit the home button. I have already sent my feedback to Apple on this. Seriously though I am weighing out the pros and cons to this phone and thinking about switching back to Sprint. I must tell you, there are many more "cons" than "pros" in my list. I am very very disappointed with Apple on this device and was looking forward to getting my new iPhone 3G, (and switched to the 3GS when it came out as well)
I'm a Graphic Designer and am a MAC computer user, for many years, but the iPhone as a phone absolutely is no good. Sorry Apple.

The problem is that the iPhone has no external LED to blink and nothing else on it glows externally. Blinking the LCD would just waste/drain the battery.
The closest I can see to making a visual indicator would for a programmer to somehow turn on a set of pixels to act as an LED. I would also go further and have it make an audible sound that could be set to repeat until acknowledged like with an SMS.

Is the badge number of missed calls showing on the phone app not working? Or do you mean you want to be alerted that you missed a call while you were using your phone in another app? If so, wouldn't you know you missed a call because you were holding the phone when it rang? Whenever I put the phone down, I return to the home screen anyway, to insure that I don't leave some app running that consumes battery. Returning home quits all running apps.
Don't mean to be dense, I'm just curious why the existing notice of missed calls doesn't work for you.

If I understand the question, on some phones that have an LED, it can be a visual indicator/alert.
In other words, I had a Motorola cell phone many years ago which would blink the LED in alternating colors (green/red) to let me know I had a missed a call or received a text message. With the iPhone the only way to know if you missed a called is to hit the home button.
Since the iPhone has no external LED or other visual indicator other than the LCD display itself, there is no way to just glance at the phone and see if you did miss a call - at least with SMS it can be configured to chime repeatedly.
BTW, I too would love to have some sort of visual indicator if I missed a call. 🙂

Trouble is what happens when you leave your phone somewhere, it rings and before you get back it's asleep again.
Not all phones do indicate missed calls with flashing lights but then a lot of phones don't go to sleep and blank the screen.

OK, I see what you're saying. For me, I wouldn't use the feature because I don't like things beeping at me, or flashing at me. I would just hit the home button to see if any phone calls, texts, emails, etc. have come in. But then, my phone's usually in my pocket. If not, and I can see it, I can just go pick it up. But I guess I understand you may want to look at it from a distance and know whether you should go pick it up.
I work in support (IT) and for those that work in similar fields (i.e. sales), something like this would be a nice feature. I don't know if it's a "must have". If it is a must have then you need to consider a different device. 🙂
But I'm like you, I just hit the home button to see if I missed a call or get a voice mail message. I get SMS texts/alerts from work if its critical. 🙂

Yeah i work in an office so visually seeing if I had a missed text or call helps tremendously. Always having an audible alert just draws attention to yourself and well, I really don't want everyone in the office knowing everytime I get a message.
I would really like to have this feature as well. I really miss it after having the Storm. It was nice to always know if you've missed a call/sms/email w/out having to wake the phone up.
No need to touch the device if you haven't missed anything. Having to pick it up and constantly check is a real pain.
Having a small (pencil sized) area of pixels that can light up at configurable intervals when you miss either sms/email/phone/etc (configurable as well) would be something I'd pay money for to have installed on my iPhone.

No.
I'm the same as you but I can see how other people may feel it's necessary.
I know that the phone will repeat the alert again after 5 minutes, and once again after... 25 is it? But other than that there's nothing at the moment.
Yes, it does repeat, but the screen goes blank after, and it only repeats once. Useless. I miss these alerts from my old basic phone.
Is there a missed call indicator
