JVC Camcorder and iMovie HD not cooperating?

Hello,

I am having problems with iMovie and my JVC F1.2 camcorder cooperating and allowing me to import video into iMovie. I rewind my tape, connect my camera with a firewire and my camera display shows a little "PC" icon in the top right corner, what I suppose signifies that it is connected to a desktop. I go into iMovie and slide the slider to the camera side but it doesn't give me the option to import from my camcorder, I can only use the iSight camera. Could anyone help me resolve this situation?

See if the suggestions in iMovie HD Help on your Mac or this web pages help you:

If not, double-check your camcorder settings. Perhaps you need to press an "OK" button or otherwise "select" the "PC" icon you mention.

If that does not resolve the problem, try re-reading the section of your camcorder's manual about downloading your clips to your computer. Perhaps you missed something there.

If you need to post back for other ideas, please double check the model number of your JVC. I could not find anything about a JVC model with F1.2 in the designation. The "F1.2" you cite may be a lens marking rather than a model number. See if you can find something like those in this list from JVC America's site:

Perhaps some JVC user will recognize your model number or can help by checking the users' manual for your camcorder.
