There is at least 1 app that uses bluetooth to transfer files between the iPhone and the Mac. It is Reunion, which is a genealogy program.

I am having the same difficulty in getting my 3GS to connect to my MacBookPro. I have updated software on the Mac, turned the phone, bluetooth off and back on, also have the the home buttton/lock switch cycle to no avail. The Mac sees the iPhone but the iPhone doesn't see the Mac. Worked fine with my original iPhone.

I'm not going to be annoying and ask "why can't i transfer files between my iPhone and computer?" Rather, I was wondering since my computer can detect and pair with my phone, is there any way to create an event or small program to runs once my phone is within bluetooth range of my computer? Perhaps an app on the iPhone end as well…?
