Songs Ending Early in iTunes

Hello. Every once in a while I'll import some mp3's that iTunes loves doing this with. I play the song and when it hits a certain point, the counter will jump to 0.00 and the next song will start. For example, I'm listening to Sick, Sick, Sick but Queens of the Stone Age, and once it hits 0:44 the counter will jump to 0:01 and the next song will start, cutting off the current song. Is there anyway to fix this? The end time is correct and I've played the MP3 in VLC media playerand it didn't follow suit.
Thanks.

Compaq, Windows XP

I've had that too. Apparently it is a bug in iTunes. If you don't mind fussing, it can usually be solved by converting the file to AAC or to an MP3 at a different bitrate.

All my songs are ripped using audio grabber(1.83) and the latest version of LAME (3.98). I recently have experienced this issue more often, I have been updating from 128->192 quality. Winamp has no problem playing any of these. Also my IPOD Touch has no problem playing these. Itunes needs to have its decoder fixed or maybe they should switch to LAME. I hope some apple rep sees and responds, because I feel like itunes is becoming unusable, in that almost all my songs encoded at 192 have this problem.

Hello all. OP here.
I found out that selecting an entire album and editing all of it's info as the same (except song number and title of course) usually fixes this problem. Check off every box on the side on every tab, even the ones that really don't mean anything for the audio file. It fixed the problems for me.
However, I feel that this is going too far to fix a problem that shouldn't be there in the first place. There must be an easier way.

I've been having this problem, too - came on here to try to figure it out! Except, this happens on both my ipod and itunes. It seems to destroy new songs every time I sync up.

Ed, excuse my ignorance, but what the heck does this mean? "it can usually be solved by converting the file to AAC or to an MP3 at a different bitrate."

How do I do this? Is there any other way to fix it? I have no way of telling whether these songs will play through a different program 😟

Can anyone point me in the right direction??
