mic doesn`t work when plug in aux in car

When I hook my brand new iphone to my car aux line, i can hear the person, but they can`t hear me.
I read similar topics in the forums. None have an answer. They all end up either

1) buy an adapter for aux cable with a build in mic.
or
2) get very lucky!! and talk while iphone is hooked up to your car.

It worked before, so I know this is possible. So far is a hit and miss, First time I tried it work perfect! Second call listener couldn`t hear anything. Third call it worked again! Perfect, as if I had bluetooth in my car (of course I don`t, that is why I need this to work). Then the fourth time around, it didn`t work at all. I can hear them fine from my car speakers, but they can`t hear me at all. Like zero! Not even static or anything...more like I`m muted (of course I checked `mute` is not ON)...

So my guess is, this is a glitch or something is wrong with the OS. I really doupt is hardware, because everything else works fine... and also the fact that this phone is only a week old (just bought it from a softbank store in Japan). Any help please!!!

I don`t want to end up paying for more adapters! Any advice.
Thanks in advance.

Today I did a lot of testing, and it seems that before I use the phone I should plug in the cable or headsets, and then unlock the phone... that mysteriously seems to work! For now.
But this "option" or "feature" shouldn't be an accident, or on a random basis, right?? I hope some iphone or apple representative, or anybody with some insight can point to a more logical and straight answer. Why to some it works, others doesn't, and some are random times.

I really like to know, if this is a real feature of the iphone??? Or a nice convenient glitch??

What?! They don't participate on their forums?? So they host "apple discussions" in their homepage... but they can't assign someone to help their clients. Good job Apple... good job. (not!)

Sometimes I really wonder why I bother paying so much... for really not so much! If I bought from Benz or BMW I expect quality car and a little deluxe "service". I really thought of Apple like the benz in tech... but really it is still a Pontiac "Fiero" with a Ferrari Body Kit!

Many companies will provide user to user help forums as part of their website. It's not unique to Apple.

I hate to break it to you but you don't get extra service from Benz or BMW either. They're not going to fawn all over you just because you bought a car and go in the dealership with a question. You need to lose your sense of entitlement.

Sorry sound upset, but I guess I had too high expectations over my new phone...
Ok, I understand about the forums and apple... (still have some body to help us out) How can I troubleshoot this iphone?

About the Benz. actually some dealers can be very nice and helpful, my ex roommate had a bmw 325i... yeah, they hook him up every time he went in to do anything to the car. My mitsubishi dealer, well, 1 time i got a loner, another time I got ice coffee and had to wait for over an hour!
i was just using the cars as an illustration, that maybe if you pay more for something, you'll expect a little more in turn... sorry to offend anybody.

To troubleshoot the phone, it helps if you describe your problem so your fellow users can give you possible solutions.

I've seen some people get treated the way your friend did at Chevy dealerships while someone else will barely get the time of day in the same shop. Some people just automatically get treated better than other people.
