Remove Sticker Before Installing Memory Chips?

If you're upgrading the memory/RAM of your MacBook, are you supposed to remove the large sticker that comes stuck on new memory chips? Is it safe to put the chips in your MacBook with these stickers still attached?

The sticker typically says "warranty void if removed".

You need to keep the sticker on. That's the proof of who is providing the warranty. Many memory modules are purchased in bulk by resellers, who then provide the warranty. That sticker is the only indication of who is providing the warranty (if there is one). Otherwise - there's no way of knowing who is responsible for the module.

I wouldn't bother trying to remove it and replace it if there's a warranty issue. Most of these are made of tamper evident materials like Tyvek or "destructible vinyl". They use adhesives that can stand up to being in a hot environment.
