Ipod hot and won't turn on.

This is my sisters 7th or 8th ipod(with in a year and a half). When I plug it into my computer, or using the wall it gets hot, so I unplug it. When plugged in, it won't even turn on or the backlight won't come on. Is this one yet another defect?

I also have this problem with my ipod nano...

The ipod will only respond when unplugged from the computer or wall and when turned on in that way, displays the low charge icon and will turn off and become unresponsive immediately when plugged in. It also displays a Use iTunes to Reset screen and my computer will not detect it. Is my ipod trash? O.o

Edit: when unplugged the only way to turn it on is to press and hold the menu and center keys.

1.) You do not have the same problem as I do.

2.) It's obvious Apple fanboys won't help someone who has a name with "Zune" in it.

3.) Looks like they won't answer you either, so they won't help noobs.

4.) I should just make my sister wait and get the new Zune HD coming out. Not 1 problem with my Zune and I have had it longer than the time past since her first ipod.
