TomTom update not working

I have a TomTom One and tried to update the unit. The unit will not update and continually corrupts (term used by TomTom). TomTom says that Spotlight is corrupting the software. APPLE says that Spotlight isn't. I've read about disabling Spotlight, but I'm not comfortable doing that. Has anyone else had success with their TomTom?

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.7), TomTom One 30

I'm having no trouble with my TomTom reagarding "corruption".

The only way I can think of that Spotlight might be causing trouble with a TomTom is if Spotlight indexing the TomTom "volume" and writing the results to the TomTom volume. To stop this, connect your TomTom device. A volume (probably titled "UNTITLED") will appear on the Desktop (assuming you have your Finder preferences set to do this). Open System Preferences and select the Spotlight panel. Click on the "Privacy" tab. Click on the "+" symbol in the lower-left corner, then select "UNTITLED" and click on "Choose".
