iTunes wont recognize blank CDs

I am all up to date on my updates for both iTunes and my macbook and for some reason when I try to burn a CD through iTunes it wont recognize the blank disc. I have burned discs through iTunes before and have used these particular blank CDs as well. Also when i insert an audio CD it recognizes it just fine. Weird. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

I am having the same problems when trying to burn or play burned CDs through iTunes. Even when it looks as though it successfully burned a disc through iTunes, when I attempt to play a burned disc, the disc drive ejects the CD without explanation. And, that's only after it appears to successfully completed the burn process and preceded by anywhere from 3-10 failed burn attempts because it ejects every blank disc while iTunes gets hung up on it's original message "Please insert blank CD" twice and then quits the burn process requiring you to start over with the 3rd, 5th, etc. blank discs. This is the most recent problem in a long line of issues I've experienced with my iMac, which is only 6 months old and I will never purchase a Mac again. Every previous problem since purchasing my iMac posted as a question went without any answer or assistance from Apple and I'm gobsmacked by the lack of service or support.

I'm having a similar problem, my Mac won't recognize cds that it just burned using iTunes 8.2.1. The cds worked in my car and in my brother-in-law's PC but, the track names and artist info did not show up. Today my son's brand new Metallica cd was not recognized by the computer so that leads me to believe it's not just iTunes. Any help would be appreciated.

i also am having this prob: my computer and windows media both recognize and can record blank cd's: but itunes doesn't register them at all as being in the drive, and the "burn" box option doesn't even show up. itunes does recognize and play any other cd's, burned or otherwise. has anyone here found a solution to this? btw, this problem arose very suddenly...i had burned discs the day before with no problems. there were no itunes updates that night.
