tagging in iCal (or any other calendar app)

I'm looking for a calendar program that has tagging. I've found 2 so
far: Chandler, which is pretty clunky, and crashes more than i'm
comfortable with; and NowX, which is also a bit awkward, far more
crash-prone, and very slow.

What i'd really like is to be able to use iCal, but it doesn't appear
to have tagging. Anyone know of a 3rd party add-on that can bring
tagging to iCal?

Failing that, anyone know of a stable calendar app with tagging?

MacBookPro4,1, Mac OS X (10.5.7), Kbd needs right-hand-side Ctl key. (Geez! Can it be that hard?)

Hi,

Although iCal doesn't have tagging it would be possible to use the notes field and a tag identifier (like say %). Enter some thing like "%tag" in the notes field. You should then be able to search for a combination of such tags in iCal's search field.

One other thing: I've got to have caldav.

Absolute showstoppers: stability, tagging, caldav.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't appear that i can AND or OR the tags. If i only needed a single tag per event, then it would work. But if that were the case, then i could just keep them in separate sub-calendars.

Maybe there's a way to clone things across multiple sub-calendars. That would solve the problem. Of course, when you changed one clone, the others would have to change as well. Probably not possible.

Hi Eric,

That's interesting.

AND and OR work here in iCal's search box. NOT seems to work also.

It uses Spotlight, is Spotlight searching your User's Library/Calendars folder?

In my previous post i all-capped 'and' and 'or' just on a whim. In the search box, however, i actually used the coding forms '&&', '||', etc. After your last response i googled it and found out that AND and OR are actually right. Never imagined that.

So Thanks! Not only do i now have a way to make iCal do what i want, in a clunky kind of way, but i now know that the search box can actually do booleans (and a lot more too). I like it.
