GT 120 with Mac Pro 1,1

GT 120 with Mac Pro 1,1

Does this combination work? I'd like to use the 24" LED monitor with my Mac Pro acquired in December, 2007 and this card seems like the only possibility. I've read a lot of postings suggesting this will work but didn't see anything definitive. Anyone actually using this combination?

I have never seen / heard of GT120 working before 2008, it can't, it has wrong firmware.

ATI 4870 will and would floor the GT by a mile.

Yes I know but the 4870 doesn't have a mini-display port, required by the Apple 24" LED display.

One of us didn't read the specs, and maybe used a flashed PC card.

Yes I know but the 4870 doesn't have a mini-display port, required by the Apple 24" LED display.

The 4870 does have a miniDP as well as DVI. I know because I just installed it.
KIM that the 24" LED only has a three-foot cable. It can be a challenge to get the computer and monitor close enough together. People have complained about this problem.

Aha, I see. The Apple web site claims it only works with the 2008 and later. Will it still work in the older Mac Pro 1,1? If so, I'll be good to go, except for the inordinately short cord of course.
