How to get score editor to work right

I am brand new to macs and Logic Express. I got Logic Express because I want to be able to compose classical music using the score function only. I opened up score window but it doesn't pull up anything and doesn't seem to let me do anything. I really don't care to use the arrange window and would just like to use the score window. Thanks!

The score editor will only reflect the contents of a region. Therefore you have to create a blank region in the Arrange page using the pencil tool. Then, using the arrow tool, extend the length of the region to be as long or longer than you might need. Then open the score editor. Bingo, you'll have a blank staff (and likely the grand staff).
