Unable to pull photos off iPhone onto PC

I used to be able to attach my iPhone to my Laptop and it would show up as a device, folder system and all, which would allow me to pull the photos off the iPhone onto my PC. Now, the iPhone doesn't show up as a separate device and I don't have a way of pulling the photos off of the iPhone. This started happening after updating to firmware 3.0, but I don't believe it is the firmware. Any ideas or fixes?

Can you use the camera wizard in Vista? (Control Panel> click Classic View> Scanners and Camera)

Also check your device manager in windows if your iphone driver needs to be reinstalled. See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2015348&tstart=0
