Bluetooth Integration with a 2006 BMW Z4

I had a 2G iPhone before this one and that synced with the car perfectly. This is just the phone kit, I couldn't pay music through it. I have now upgraded to the 3GS and it will not "see" the car.

I have tried removing all synced devices from the car and resetting the settings on the iPhone 3GS but the phone will not pick up the car.

Is there anything else I can try so the phone can sync to my car?

that's the first thing I tried but couldn't find a solution. I'm starting to think the 3GS just isn't compatible with the BMW system but I'm sure I've read that a few people have got it to work!

Have you done a search for BMW in this forum? There are quite a few past messages related to BT, 3GS and BMWs.

One month ago I purchased a 2009 BMW328XI. My 1st generation iTouch as well as the second generation iPhone worked like a champs. I upgraded to 3.0 and now the bluetooth on the phone only syncs my address book letters BCFWXZ and my itouch doesn't connect at all.

When plugging into the USB port in the car it does not recognize the iTouch but recognizes the iPhone. It's the same **** 3.0 OS!!!

Is there any way to revert back to the old 2.1.2 or whatever the last version was? WHAT THE F-

I just synced my new 3GS with a MINI which has the same radio / audio / bluetooth as BMW - looks and works exactly the same as my 2006 330xi did.

Ive got a 2006 BMW 650i and have, like you, gone through the various generation phones from 1, to 2, to the current 3. Seems to synch okay. Make sure you get the iDrive update from BMW - you're overdue for it. They gave it to me last year. It helped quite a bit with the phone issues. More phone book functionality, etc too.

I ahve a 2007 X5. My 2nd gen. iphone 3g would not work at all with my car's bluetooth. Terrible echos, no address book, etc. I swapped out iphones. Still no luck. Finally when the car was in for service I happened to ask the service advisor if anybody else had a similar iphone problem. He himself did and told me the problem lied with BMW! They updated my car's software package (took them 3 tries before it finally uploaded) and the 3G worked like a charm! Magnificient. That is until I recently loaded 3.0! Now I have problems with my address book and my caller id not coming up on the car's display! I too wish I could go back to 2.1.2 which was great. Can it be done? Sure would like to know.!
