Samsung Syncmaster 2494, 24"

Hi,
I recently bought a second monitor to enlarge my desktop on both Mac OS Leopard and Windows Xp (witch runs under Boot Camp). In Mac OS X The monitor works fine, I can use it like i use my iMac G5 monitor. I can watch movies, edit documents, edit photo's … But when I restart my computer in Windows XP SP3, my computer doesn't want to recognize my 24" display. The light of the display keeps flashing like when it's in stand by. (MiniDVI->VGA->VGA)
I've send a mail to the Apple Store closest to my home, but they won't answer my mail. So I hope I'll get some help of you guys.
Can anyone tell me how to get my display work on windows, so I can play my games on the big screen? I'd really appreciate it!

+Also I'm very sorry for my English. I'm only 14 and I live in Belgium and speak Dutch. Please forgive me. And is this the right place to start a topic like this? If not, sorry!+

Thanks,
Ief2

Your Mac model? iMac? Would help to know and then what type of adapter your 24" Samsung uses going out.

What settings for Windows Display control panel?
You enabled 2nd monitor to be used?
Never used XP myself, but I don't think 2nd monitor can be used as primary display.

Getting games to display on the monitor might also require extra steps.

I would try Windows 7 and I think it will be replacing XP on a lot of systems even for gaming.

Well i did activated the second monitor and maked it 1920x1080. And then yes, I can mouve my mouse to the other monitor (over the edge of my iMac's screen). But it's like the second monitor isn't even real, because you can't see it on the second display, it stays black.

And for starting games, Before I had the big samsung, i had a very old monitor. Like 15 years old. When I started up a game, XP asks on wich monitor you would like to run the game.

This is my Mac:

I'm not planning to change my OS, I don't even know if my computer can run Windows 7?!

But anyway, thanks for the help, but i'm still not out of this nasty piece of trouble!

Because an iMac G5 can't run Windows or use Boot Camp, and you only mentioned the G5, that left me in the dark as to what Mac you were trying to do this on.

Your iMac:

Mini-DVI output port with support for DVI, VGA, S-video, and composite video connections via adapter (4) 4.Requires adapter, sold separately.

So maybe the problem is the adapter.

Does your Samsung require or have DVI? I guess it has two (if not three) dispaly ports (HP model has ability to act like a KVM and switch between two computers, Mac and PC).

And an Apple Mini DVI to DVI? seems it would be more compatible - if there is one. So yes, $19 + tax + shipping (or local store?). If it doesn't work, take it back is easier with brick and mortar stores.

The new MiniDisplay Port has trouble with 3rd party monitor recognition with 10.5.7. There, there is the stock cheap version that doesn't support all resolutions, and the $99 version that works. All of which reminds me "ADC is dead, long live ADC" proprietary monitor interface.

At time of purchase, Vga and Dvi cables are provided with older Samsung SyncMaster 225BW. I started out using Vga in Mac Pro with Leopard & Windows-not XP. Changed to Dvi thinking it should be better. Have never tried 2 monitors. One is enough for me.

Wondering if you can disable non Samsung - (if you do not use it in Windows), in Device Manager. Only other thing I recall is with the Samsung menu button on the monitor itself, setting Auto Source to off?
