Syncing more than one iphone with Microsoft Outlook
My husband and I both have iPhones. He already has his phone set up to use Microsoft Outlook. Is there a way for me to also use Microsoft Outlook, but only sync my information and not his?
If you set up Outlook to have two accounts (one for you and one for your husband) they will both appear in iTunes when you sync your phones. Make sure only yours is ticked when you sync and only your husbands when he syncs. Only your own mailbox settings will then go over to your respective iPhones.
To set up a new account, do I need to go under Tools, email accounts and set it up that way? Where do you check to make sure that only mine is checked in Outlook (or only his is checked)?
Yes, set up the new account in Outlook the way you mentioned. You then copy the settings to your iPhone using iTunes. Open iTunes, connect your phone and when it appears in the Devices list go to the Info tab and tick only your mailbox in the Mail Accounts section and then click Apply and then Sync.
Do you mean a change to the mail box settings or a change to an e-mail? If the former, it won't change in Outlook if you change it on the iPhone. Whether a change to an e-mail (e.g. a deletion or a move to a folder) also changes in Outlook depends on whether you are using IMAP or POP to connect to your mailbox server. IMAP will keep the mailboxes synchronised all all times. POP will not. If you use POP for multiple mail clients (e.g. Outlook and your iPhone) make sure you choose to leave a copy of e-mails on the server or each message will only transfer to the first client to connect to your mail provider's server. IMAP is much better for the sort of set up you plan to have.
So I have more questions. I set up an Outlook account and when I looked around more it says that I should use a Outlook Connector for MSN Hotmail. I went ahead and set all of this up. My calendars sync from Hotmail to Outlook and vice versa, but if I add a phone # or calendar entry to my iPhone it does not sync into Outlook or Hotmail. What am I missing?
