Printing single page of PDF document

Hi - I have a Canon MP 600 printer which I used previously with a PC. When used with a PC I had no problem in printing a single page of a PDF document - "print current page". When I view a PDF document with my iMac it opens with Preview and I can find no option or menu that will allow me to do this. I either print the entire document (which could be several hundred pages long) or nothing. Surely there must be some way that I can print a single page of a PDF document? Please someone help, it is driving me mad!

Thanks
Ann

The problem for me is that I have to go through PDF documents hundreds of pages long that aren't necessarily numbered. So is there any way you can specify printing only the page you are viewing ie print "current page"?

Try this. If you do not see a page number readout in the Preview toolbar, right-click the Toolbar in Preview and choose Customize Toolbar. Now drag the "Page" widget up to the toolbar to add it there. Close the customizer.

OK. Now you can see what page you are on, and you can type it into the Print dialog. Not as easy as a simple "Print Current Page" option, but it could get you there.

Not elegant or graceful ...

To print any series of pages from Preview, open the sidebar and select the pages while holding down the Command key to select non-contiguous pages. (Hold down the Shift key to select contiguous pages.)

Once you have your pages selected, press Command-P to print. Note that you have to select more than one page in order to do this -- selecting a single page reverts back to printing an entire document.

Printing 2 beats printing 200.

Or even less elegant ...

By selecting two pages and saving as pdf in the print dialog, open the newly saved two page pdf with Preview and deleting the extra unwanted page.

Thanks for that - problem is I don't have any arrows underneath the preview. I have opened several pdf files and there are no arrows or page number indicators. Is there something I need to alter in preview to get this?

Are you seeing the preview at all in the Print dialog? If not, expand it, by clicking the button right of the printer name. If the preview is there the buttons oughta be under it.

Sorry. It isn't in "Preview.app", it is in the preview area (on the left) of the print dialog box. It isn't extraordinarily useful, but it is about all there is. I even tried to see if there were some "hidden" abilities that pop up every now and then, but I couldn't find anything.

I think it should be pretty easy to do. Maybe send feedback to Apple and ask them to add it. While you're at it, do the same for Skim and PDFClerk.

I've noted the request for this feature, and will likely add it to the next update of PDFClerk Pro.

In the current version of PDFClerk Pro you can simply drag the page you want to print from the page list to the Finder, then open the resulting single page PDF document in any PDF editor to print.

That is exactly the kind of "hidden" ability I was talking about. That's a nice tip! I MacOSXhints but didn't find that.

Thank you Bjorn - I worked that one out following my previous post. The problem for me is that I have to go through PDF documents hundreds of pages long that aren't necessarily numbered.
