ipod software update server could not be contacted

I have a new ipod and I am unable to update and add music. I am receiving the following warning: ipod software update server could not be contacted; Make sure network settign are correct and your network connection is active.

Does anyone know what netwrok connection apple uses? I am on a work computer with a number of firewalls. I can drop the firewall for a moment to update but what to select the correct one.

Any help would be great

Hey there,
Make sure you iTunes is enabled through the Windows firewall. Instructions on how to do this can be found [HERE|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368] as well as other troubleshooting solutions for this issue.

If you are using Norton or McAfee AV, I would try temporarily disabling them to see if that helps the situation as well.

Or see if this article can help you out. It's worth a shot.

Hope this helps.
