HI Dan,
You don't need third party software which in most cases causes more problems then it's worth.
*Monitoring computer usage with parental controls*
You can monitor the Internet, application, and iChat activity of an account that is managed by parental controls.
Before you can monitor the activity of an account, the account must have parental controls turned on.
Open the Logs pane of Parental Controls preferences
To view logs of the computer usage of a managed account:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Parental Controls and then click Logs.
Open the Logs pane of Parental Controls preferences
Choose the period of time for which you want to view logs from the "Show Activity for" pop-up menu.
Choose how the entries in the log are ordered from the "Group by" pop-up menu.
Select a log type from the Log Collections list.
Select a category of log to view, and then click the disclosure triangle next to an item to view details about it.
Click Restrict to block access to this item.
*For more information*, in your Finder, click Help from the Menu Bar, and type in; Protecting a user from inappropriate internet content.
