10.5.7 & VMWare Fusion

Hi,

I've been using a Mac for only a year now. So I'm no expert. But I development casual video games and so I have to run VMWare Fusion to compile Windows versions and use certain tools.

I upgraded to 10.5.7 and the latest VMWare Fusion and now my 3D accelerator is crippled. I understand that this is a bug in the ATI driver for the Mac and I was wondering when this would get fixed. As is, I can't work in the Windows environment. That would be fine, if I had all Mac only tools. But, as you know, there aren't a lot of Mac game dev software out there. My Level and particle editors are both toast.

Is there any ETA for 10.5.8 or a driver fix? Thanks.

James

For software development, I would suggest using BootCamp so you are devoting the entire machine to Windows and not just a part of it.
SW development, IMO, is best done in a native environment, not a virtual one.
Unless you need Leopard while developing the Windows software, why are you using a virtual environment?

Nobody posting here has any knowledge about future updates or OSs, or if they do, they are not allowed to say anything.

With Bootcamp, you can't flip between OSX and Windows in realtime. Photoshop and my rendering software is on the Mac while the level editor is in Windows. Not a pleasant combination but it works when VMWare and OSX want to play nice together.

I only use Windows to compile the final Windows product -- not to actually code. I develop/code and compile in OSX.

You can file a bug report here:
https://bugreport.apple.com/
if you have not already done so.
You need to sign up with ADC, but it's quick, free and I am sure you would find it very useful, if you are not already a member.
