Audio ducking not working

I started a project, and ducking is working in the first part. Now, I'm trying to get ducking to work on a long audio clip--an MP4 edited in garageband. I have voice overs and I need the audio clip to duck. No ducking is happening at all, even though I have all the settings as they should be. And if I go in and change the entire audio clip to half its volume, nothing happens.

Seriously--the settings are correct--I've gone through it again and again. It's a glitch. How can I fix it?

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

You need to turn ducking off for every thing except the voice over. Set the ducking there. The ducking percentage for the other tracks will be relative to the voiceover volume.

Thanks for the quick response. However, I already tried that. No luck.

I read somewhere else that people had trouble with ducking if they had transitions between their pics and videos, so I removed my transitions. Still, the ducking does not work.

Is there a way to do this manually?
