"Mirrors" folder in my Library - What is this for?

Hello. In my Library there is a folder called "Mirrors" (~/Library/Mirrors). It contains a .dmg file that is almost 16GB is size. Not an issue on my PowerBook, but on my older G3 iMac it is almost half the hard drive space. Does any one know what this file is and if it can be trimmed down?

Does any one know what this file is

It's the local copy of the iDisk. DIsable iDIsk synchronization from the .Mac or MobileMe pane of System Preferences, and if the file remains, just delete it.

Mine had 19GB in it. I turned off the .Mac synchronization, the Mirrors folder now has 4KB in it, but my available hard drive space didn't increase at all. I emptied the trash, what am I missing?

Could be corrution.

How much free space is on the HD, where has all the space gone?

OmniDiskSweeper is likely the easiest/best, and is now free...

I had 14GB free before the Mirrors delete, and now I still have 14GB free. No idea why. Maybe I'll restart the computer?

Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go...

Found it! When I deleted the iDisk backup, a copy was placed on my desktop called "former iDisk something...". I deleted that and now I got my 19GB back.
