Ad-Hoc distribution error 0xE8008015

Where can I go to look up details for the error code 0xE8008015

Does something better than "unknown error" exist in an iTunes log that I can look at?

The error is occuring while trying to deploy an ad-hoc iphone app distribution. Details regarding certs, provisioning profiles, etc. have been followed to the minute detail.

Tried so far:

Re-certing the developer and distribution.
Delete and redo the ad-hoc provision. (The device # for deployment IS checked and accurate)
Change the app sync options in iTunes from All to checking manual.
Different computer/iTunes

Thanks.

3gs, iPhone OS 3.0

Hi kevin1k & welcome to the forums.

Was the cert created on a different machine from where you were trying to do development?

Have you tried editing the provisioning profile for the device and adding all the developers who would be possibly using the profile?

Restart...clear caches...clean targets...get rid of duplicates on the device - and good luck.

Hello K T.

The cert was created on the machine of the developer. There is only one device/developer for the project and the device is part of the provision when I look in the development portal.

The machine where iTunes and the iPhone are located is NOT this development machine. On this machine the distribution provision was installed by dragging it to iTunes, and the application folder was dragged to the Applications library. The instructions on how to do that part we got from here: http://www.innerfence.com/howto/install-iphone-application-ad-hoc-distribution

I am seeing this same problem as well. I created all the certs on my Mac (I am the developer), installed, etc, and it installs on my iPhone find.

In the mobile provision file I have included my colleagues device ID.

When I send the app and .mobileprovision file to my friend -- he drags them both into iTunes.

However, this error pops up when he tries to sync the app. He said the app does show in his "application" list in itunes.

I had the same thing here... maybe this helps you:

1. create a distribution provisioning profile - not a development profile!
2. code sign with the correct certificate - your distribution certificate!
3. enter the correct app identifier for the target (see "Building and Installing your Development Application" in http://developer.apple.com/iphone/manage/provisioningprofiles/howto.action
4. if you have not already setup the code signing entitlements follow the steps here http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=738492
5. follow the other (more obvious steps 😉 to add the provisioning profile and your app to iTunes

And... good luck - you might need it!
