Plextor USB 2.0 DVD drive PX-608** problem : device not recognized

I have a macbook pro 3,1 with MacOS X 10.5.7 & Windows XP SP3 installed (natively, without Parallels), each OS one its partition.
I have a problem with a Plextor dvd drive (model : PX-608**). This drive works flawlessy when I boot Windows XP, I can read/burn dvd without problems.
When I boot Mac OS X, this drive is not recognized. Plugging the USB wires, inserting discs result to latencies to disc/drive detection and many error messages pop up telling me that the disc isnt recognized.
How could I solve this problem ? Where could I find some debug messages ?
