Iphone 3g Backlight lcd not working. :(

Do you have a case that may be interfering with the light sensors? If not, I'd suggest taking it to the authorized service provider in your country.

My iphone 3G abruptly got the white screen. My touch was working, my iphone itself was working. Apple/AT&T, since I was 17 days over in my warranty, wanted me to pay $399 to get a replacement phone. Apple *****. AT&T wanted $150 to let me get out of the contract ( about an year left ).

Got LCD replacement for < 30$ and replaced it myself.

This was my 2nd equipment. First one had issues with headset plugging( hole ). I think replacement phones are all refurbished.

I am so longing to finish the contract and get out of this iCrap.

The price for an out of warranty replacement at the Genius Bar is $199, not $399.

Oh... That was not the deal I was offered. They didn't offer to replace my iPhone 3G with another 3G. They were trying to sell another 3GS I think.

One apple Tech had the audacity to jokingly ( while I was standing there with fumes out of my ears upon hearing that I had to shell out another 299/399 to get a replacement ) indicate that I was eligible to get the reduced price of 199 right about the time of Christmas for my Christmas gift.

Anyway ONLY reason I chose iPhone was because of its capabilities to support for reading emails/web pages in my mother tongue..

By the time the contract is done this I am hoping the iCrap doesnt drive me nuts. AT&T & apple are made for each other.. Both are equally bad..

Either way I look at it, I am regretting the decision to go with apple iPhone & AT&T...

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. All my experiences dealing with the Genius Bar have been excellent so far.

Not exactly sure if the 3.01 update started my wi-fi woes, but I haven't been able to make a connection for 2 weeks. Very frustrating. Been following the posts on this thread and have done a few things. Including going to the Apple store (Genius) and having them restore it. Same issue after the restore. Two other things that seem to be happening that I haven't read on these boards.

First, it seems to be losing the correct time. At least once a day the time will be 10-20 minutes behind. Eventually it will correct itself, but can't help to wonder if this is related.

Secondly, the response of the touch seems to be slow. Including hitting the home key. Looks to be off by at least a half second. There are other pokey things now with the interface.

The solution from the Genius bar was to put me in a 3GS as my iphone is out of warranty. Though this particular phone is less than a year old. It's a replacement from my original fried iphone from last December.

This whole experience is very disheartening. I'm hoping the upgrade will fix the problem.

I am just hoping that G2 comes out with better capabilities to counter iCrap. Its either that or Palm Pre for me in July 2010.
