Convert AVI movie files for burning to DVD ..

Hey .. what is the simplest way to convert AVI files to a format that can be burnt to DVD for playback on a regular DVD player ?? I know Toast Titanium is the standard but is there any other way ??

QuickTime Pro or MPEG Streamclip can convert them. Some AVIs require that Perian be installed, while others can't be converted in Mac OS X through any means; AVI is a container, not a format.

I have MPEG Streamclip. What is the best format for output ?? Once the files are converted do I need to create a ISO disk image for burning ?? If so, what is the best way to do it ??

Hi Bigdazzler,

I've been using VLC and Handbrake together to convert. Awesome stuff and they are both FREE! Do a Google search to find them online. I use one and then the other and save both to my desktop. After that, I open iMovie (09) and select to import the final file. It works and it works very well. Let me know if you need directions on what to do next. Best of luck on you projects!
