Fixing corrupted icons

What can be done about fixing icons of third party apps that have become corrupted?

Here is what happened. I purchased a third party app. It worked (and still does) and the icon looked fine. A few days later, I received a phone call on the iPhone, but I didn't answer. I let it go to voicemail. For some odd reason, my iPhone froze after this on the "answer/decline" screen of the phone call. It just froze there and I basically had to force shut and restate the iPhone (which wasn't as easy as I thought it would be). After it restarted, everything was fine except for that one icon. A dark blue band appeared across the top of it. Everything else was fine and the app still worked perfectly. I tried deleting the app from the phone and resyncing with iTunes on my computer, but it came back looking exactly the same way.

How can I get it to look right? I can't delete it from both the phone and iTunes because then I will have to pay for it again.

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7), 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Thanks,

the icon that is corrupted on my phone isn't completely corrupted. Now I can recognize what it is. For some reason, the top fifth of the icon is a different apps icon that I have on the phone. The rest of the icon is the right app. I can recognize it and it works fine, but it is quite annoying to not have a clean image on the screen. I tried deleting the other app and reinstalling it, but that didn't change the look of the faulty icon.

As for the rest of your thread, it seems like a lot to go through for thus, so I'm not inclined to. Hopefully another solution comes soon.

Having the same problem since updating to 3.01. Apps work, but have either a blank grey square for an icon or have another application's icon. Have restored, rebooted, etc. uninstalled app, rebooted, reinstalled app. when i reinstall, seems okay until the next reboot, at which time the app gets corrupted again. no answers so far. Guys at the Genius Bar never heard of it.
