Vuze port forwarding

I know this has been covered many times, but I have been searching, trying things on forums and can't get this stupid mac to do Vuze with this ****** AirPort Express!

I have a fiber-optic link and when I use the ethernet cable, Vuze is perfect. I just got an Airport Express plugged into the fiber-optic modem and it can't connect.

I have setup windows machines in the past with routers to do port forwarding.

The "guides" I have so far found will take you through and at some point they will start taking about options not available in my Airport Assistant.

So, please, can someone explain simply how to set up my ip address manually, and configure the Airport to forward the ports!?!?!

ok, so I followed this guide.

http://www.blueskyis.com/bittorrent/airportforwarding.php

It details the process of setting up your dhcp address range, and then manually creating an ip4 address for my macbook. simple.

Except that after I create my own ip address (I have tried a few, outside the address range of the dhcp selection as the article says to do) and internet connection becomes lost.

so basically I can't seem to get a manual ip address working, it says my machine connects to the airport, and i have the ip address show up in my settings.

but still no net access.

any ideas?

do i need to manually assign the ip6 address too? it seems to not be in the article.

thanks

I gave up. Reversed all my changes and stuck the ethernet cable in.
I also got azerus to test the port numbers and it assigned a new port number and enabled RCA connection encryption.
Fine working torrents, so I reserved myself to just having to use the cable for torrents. Then I later disconnected the ethernet cable and switched over to wireless and now it seems to be working, albeit slowly.

Weird.

At least it works a bit.
