Jul 19, 2009 11:39 AM in response to HellraiserUKby Nadav,Wow! I had a G5 Quad and Apple told me that it had a better and improved cooling system. I am surprised that the Quads are just as bad as the Early 2005 models(dual 2.5 and 2.7) -
Jul 20, 2009 1:48 AM in response to Nadavby DaddyPaycheck,If you think about it, anything that holds liquid eventually leaks.
OK, maybe don't think about it.
I thought that the 2.7's had the improved systems. -
Jul 25, 2009 6:07 AM in response to HellraiserUKby Kool G4,They usually use either (6) or (8) retention posts to hold these in. There will be (2) or (4) somewhere in the middle of the cooling unit that may not be readily apparent. You may need to access through through small holes in the unit's cover, but, in any event, a long bladed 2.5mm HEX (Allen key) driver is required ... minimum 8" / 200mm long to reach through the works of the cooling unit. Good luck. -
Jul 25, 2009 6:12 AM in response to Nadavby The hatter,The 2.7DP had one of two different LQS, so it was the toss of a coin which was used.
Tons of people build PCs with water blocks to hold down heat - and noise - even graphic card like eVGA 295. It can be done. -

You are right about one thing , that all thinks that carry liquid will leak in time . That go's for car and anything that will hold liquid like computer liquid cooling system . Rubber hoses get old and crack and leak in them .I my self wont own a quad macintosh . I no they are the fastest computers out there . I think that a better cooling system could be engineered for them , the mac quad computers . I would bet if the people got together made a better design to improve the water flow without using a rubber hose they would not leak at all . I my self think that a sold copper pipe would work out fine . with it braised in to the metal . But I see that the processor and water cooling part of it is made of aluminum . That by it self is hard to braze in , it would melt very fast if you are not care full .
