Wanadoo Live Box

Hi

I am a new Mac user, having today purchased an ibook G4. I am trying to connect it to a Wanadoo Livebox via airport. Is anyone aware of any compatibility problems between the mac and the livebox?

The Mac picks up the wanadoo network and asks for my network key, however it just comes up with the message

"There was an error joining the Airport Network"

Anyone got any ideas? I know the livebox's are complicated to add more computers to, as I had problems connecting extra Pc's

Make sure you use the HEX equivalent key and not the plain text password.

Hi

Thanks for that. The Status now says connected to the network but Safari says I am not connected to the internet - Do i have to configure that seperately?

No - just gives me the same message about not being connected to the internet

Does this help - in 'Network Status', I have an amber light. Its says

'Airport is connected to Wanadoo-5d7b. Airport does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the internet".

Confirm it is a WEP issue, turn off WEP on the Wanadoo box and see if you can now connect?

Just a quick note to say thanks. It was a WEP problem. The way round this was to turn the livebox security off, let the iBook connect to the internet and then turn the security back on.

Hi Adam

I'm looking at broadband providers and was wondering if you find that the livebox is good value?

I'm looking to connect to ibook G4 14 inch.

I was thinking it would work out cheaper than buying a separate router, etc.

please can you tell me how to switch off security (wep) on live box of wanadoo, if this can let me connect wirelessly.
I have a similar problem. My airport can see the wanadoo livebox but doen't connect wirelessly with wep key provided.
