Duplicate and missing albums

I recently upgraded to 3.0 and now some of my albums only show up in the Albums section but not under the specific artist. I have made sure the artist name and album artist names are consistent in iTunes.

Also, I am having an issue with several of my artists showing up twice with the same albums under each. Again, all the names are consistent in iTunes and I didn't have these issues before the upgrade.

Please help!

iTunes & iPod have slightly different ways of working with the same data which can cause problems. I don't have access to an iPod Touch or iPhone but similar problems occur with the Classic line. See my previous post on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic Missing Artist or Album not with others by same artist. The lastest upgrade may have made the Touch more sensitive to any minor spelling inconsistencies in either the Artist or Sort Artist fields which don't reveal themselves in iTunes. Like the "Greatest Hits" bug which confuses all albums with the same title, an inconsistency could cause two instances of the artist to be listed, and then connect all tracks to both copies.

I know exactly what the creator of this thread means. I have no clue how to fix this. The response he got was absolutely not helpful. Here's the issue for me:

I have four albums successfully in the iPod section of my iPhone. When I try to add the final one, rather than add it to the iPod, it just duplicates what I already have and doesn't display the new one on the iPod. From the computer list view, it looks perfectly normal. Also more interesting, if I use coverflow mode on the iPhone, I can find the 5th album that wont show up when the iPhone is held upright. What kind of glitch is this and how do I fix it? I am angry that such an expensive new phone can have such a stupid problem.
