How to fade in and out in multi-track editor

Question

How to fade in and out in multi-track editor

I'm using Soundtrack Pro 1.1

Is there any way to fade a clip in or out in the multi-track editor? The only way I've been able to do it so far is to create an audio file project and do it there. Surely there must be a way to do it more directly?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6), 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM

Move your cursor onto the audio track, to the upper-left (or upper-right) corner until the cursor icon changes to a small envelop. From there, click & drag out to create a fade. From there, you can double-click on the audio file to get a HUD with all the different types of fades available.

I've moved my cursor everywhere and the only thing it allows me to do is shorten or lengthen the audio clip.

So you're saying the only way to fade in or out is to automate the volume?

Well you can do fade ins and outs on a clip in the multitrack editor (process menu), but if you want to do a fade on a multitrack piece then you would automate the master volume envelope.

That's my problem though- when I select a clip in the timeline and then go to the process menu, all the effects options, including fade in and out, are greyed out.

That shouldn't be, it indicates a problem beyond STP. Perhaps repairing permissions might help . . . or if you can use an external drive for your audio set it to Ignore Permissions (Get Info - checkbox).

All my audio is on my Macbook Pro's hard drive. I tried to repair the permissions but doesn't change anything.
