No MIDI signal ut

After getting a new Mac cannot make the MIDI to work.I cannot even get a sigal through the interface.I have reinstalled the driver routine. In the Audio Midi set up window the icon for the interface is greyd out. Could that have a significance? It says it is connected to the hardware but no signal what so ever is going out from the interface to the USB hub.
What could be wrong?

Is it greyed out with a red question mark? Check all the cabling. It means the IF is offline (=unplugged). It could also mean there are no or the wrong drivers installed.
Which interface is it? And that driver, is that the latest on +the manufacturers' website+ you could find? If you got the driver from a disc that came with the IF, it may be outdated.
And what sort of MIDI-controller have you hooked it up to?

If the icon is greyed-out, that means it either isn't connected (check cables) or it is disabled.

You don't say what interface you have, or what versions of your applications.

Visit the manufacturer's website to see if there are any known issues or bug reports, & if appropriate, download the latest version that is definitely compatible with your setup.
