Daisywheel printer connection?

Does anybody know if it is possible (also meaning easy)to connect my 15" Alum. Unibody MacBook Pro to an elderly serial printer, namely a Citizen Premier 35 daisy-wheel printer? I know this is out there, but it works on my Lisa and SE20.
Anybody?

15" unibody Mac book pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7), also running a Lisa

Yep, there's the rub. I doubt very much that what you hope to do is possible. Why do you want to do it?

For the benefit of less elderly readers than you and me, I'll just point out that the two computers you mentioned being able to use your antique printer with are between 20 and 30 years old.

Ah... daisywheel printers... those and dot-matrix line printers... those were the days. I remember when I was a kid... I had to walk to school... up hill... both ways! 😉

And we had something called a typewriter that could only print one copy at a time and only as quickly as you could type it (well... unless you used carbon paper).

None of this fancy laser stuff that you spoiled kids have today.

I wanted to do something similar but ultimately gave up on any kind of direct connection. The USB-to-parallel adapters on the market are not designed for this and won't allow the piping of text to the printer. Instead, I bought an old Tandy WP-2 off eBay, transfer files from the Mac to the WP-2, and then print from the WP-2. It works well enough.

This has nothing to do with your question in the direct sense but just so you know (and I suspect you likely already do) there is an app called SheepShaver that will allow you to run many classic Mac apps on your MBP, even with snow Leopard.

Anyway, I use SheepShaver to emulate Mac OS 8.6 and then I can access my old WriteNow documents as well as many other invaluable to me documents. I cannot print from within SheepShaver but I do have an app called Print2Pict. I print to this "printer" selectable in the Chooser and then can transfer it to the MBP side and print it.

Again, I know that is not what you are looking for but since you are into the old stuff, as am I, I thought I would mention it in case you were not aware of it. Good luck with the daisy wheel!
