Chinese Keyboard Input Freeze then stops working unti reboot app

I've been having a problem with using Simplified Chinese language input on my MacBook 10.5.5. When typing particular Chinese 2-word phrases in pinyin, the pinyin will have the underline but won't convert to Chinese characters. Instead, the spinning wheel comes up until I change back to U.S. English keyboard and press 'return' to get rid of the underline. Then Simplified Chinese keyboard input won't work anymore.

this is across all apps where i can input keys.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.5), 2 Ghz Intel Core Duo

last thing: To get it to work again, I have to close out that app and restart it for Simplified Chinese to work again. But recently, I've found more and more pinyin which freezes and it's really inconvenient to close the app and restart or to remind myself to type single characters to bypass the faulty keyboard input.

You might want to post this in the Chinese Mac list to see if others have had similar problems and know of a fix:

In any case, this kind of thing most likely has nothing to do with your hardware and it would be better to post it in the forums related to the OS:
