Measuring RMS of a given audio file?

Just use Logic's Level meter from the Metering folder and set it to either "peak" - "RMS" or "Peak&RMS".

Logic's Meter only indicates RMS level using bars and I guess you need RMS level in digits, I propose to get PAZ Meter by Waves, this plug-in can be native and shows the RMS level in both bar and digits.

Drop the audio file onto audioleak and it calculates the L and R channels for peak and rms. Also shows a graph to help.

Logics RMS level meter only measures and averages a few hundred ms at a time. I know of no meter that will measure an entire track and then spit out a figure for you at the end. If the track has any realistic dynamics, such a measurement would not be very useful. Why do you need to know the average on the whole track? Maybe there is another way to get the info you are in need of.

You can use the graph of the audio file to see the rms and peaks at different times in audio.
