HDV capture problems with Sony HVR-1500 deck.
We've recently moved offices and have just finished setting up all our equipment. Everything was working fine in the old place, but now I'm trying to capture HDV (I would capture at Pro res but we're desperately running out of HD space) and can't get the blasted deck to output HDV.
All the capture settings in FCP are correct: Capture Preset HDV, Device Control Preset Sony HDV Firewire ( we have a Keyspan adaptor with RS-422 to USB but it's not liking it) but every time i initiate log&capture I get the message:
"Unable to Initialize Capture Device
Device is not connected or the capture preset is not
setup correctly. You may still log offline clips
This might also happen if you play DV footage in an
HDV device"
I know the tape is HDV, when it plays in the deck the HDV indicator is lit, but the iLink indicator is on DVCAM. I've searched through the settings in the deck and for the life of me I can't get the iLink to switch over to HDV.
I've seen on Creative Cow that many people are having some issues with this deck working with FCP. Our main tech guy is away at the moment, but I've spoken to him on the phone and he's assured me that the deck was running fine.
Do any of you wonderful people have any idea how to get this working?
I tried yesterday but ended up capturing using our Z1, which seems a bit of a cop-out, especially when there's thousands of dollars worth of deck sitting there.
Thanks in advance.
