Company Directory Contacts in Exchange

Good Day,

I'm a network admin and my company has decided that the iPhone (with software 3.0) may be a viable mobile solution in addition to Windows Mobile devices. I've been able to find a lot of the answers I've been curious about by reading the Enterprise Deployment Guide and a few other resources on the Apple website, but I was curious about browsing the "Company Directory" (or GAL) when creating a new e-mail while using Exchange/ActiveSync.

Can one browse the GAL or query contacts through the mail interface? For example, on my Windows Mobile device I can create a new message and click "Add Contact" then click "<Company Directory>", type a name, then click "Search" to resolve the contact.
I'm trying +really hard+ to avoid needing to open up LDAP access outside of the support built-into ActiveSync.

Thanks in advance! 🙂

Yes, the GAL can be searched from the iPhone.

Without a need to opening LDAP into my firewall? Just through the standard ActiveSync connection?
I'd like to think so, seeing as how it works that way on my Windows Mobile devices, but I just want to make sure.

Thanks!
