Can't Capture More than 5 Mins

Hi i have a canon hv20 and i am capturing my video in final cut expresse version 4 it only captures 5 mins then it stops and the comouter freezes. I have a mac mini OS version 10.57 itel core 2 duo 2 Gb of ram. The tape i am capturing is about an hour.

Anyone expreianced this before please help me.

I have an external hard drive which is 1 Tb connected so i can put the video files in there. and the camera via firewire 800

Is it a FireWire drive? Exactly what drive is it? USB? Apple doesn't support the use of USB drive with video editing applications.

it is a USB external hard drive which i connected to put the video files in.

USB drives are not supported by Apple for video editing applications. You might try disconnecting the USB drive and capturing to the internal and see if that works.

Hey tanks a lot men now i can capture but i have less space to put all of the videos so i have to stop and dump it in to hard drive then start capturing again.
